Barbie or Fashion Royalty?

For those of you that celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope yours was full of food, fun, friends and family.

The holiday saw the arrival of yet another new Moreville resident. Cruz' girlfriend Darby arrived a few days prior giving her plenty of time to celebrate it with Cruz in their new home. Of course, none of the established Moreville ladies knew that Cruz already had a girlfriend, so there were widespread tears and groans of disappointment. Saturday night, Cruz took Darby to Casey's.

Since Cruz and Darby are the first Fashion Royalty dolls I got, I decided to do a little comparison between them and the Barbie and Ken dolls. I didn't realize that Cruz was a bit taller than Ken. Here he is alongside Casey and Ryan.

Here is a close-up of the guys. Cruz can fit into some of Ken's pants and shirts, but some of the jeans are a little tight on him. He can fit in the jackets, but the sleeves are too short. Also, the only pair of shoes he can fit into is Ryan's work boots.

Here are the ladies. Again, I didn't realize that Darby was taller than the Barbies. Here she is alongside Lauren (redhead) and Sophia.

Here'a a close-up. Darby is from the Integrity Toys Gloss Convention. Barbie's pants are too short for her. She fits well into the long formals and the longer skirts. Here she's wearing the Tim Gunn outfit. She doesn't have any shoes because none of Barbie's fit her. They're all way too small.

Here she is compared to the guys. She's just a bit taller.

The only issue I have with the Fashion Royalty dolls is the price tag. I know Integrity doesn't mass produce like Mattel does, and all their dolls are for adult collectors and not children, but some of the dolls on the secondary market still seem overpriced to me. Even the clothes are expensive. But then again, you get what you pay for. I have my eye on two more from the convention, but they'll have to wait until after Christmas.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Barbie and Ken dolls. If it wasn't for Casey, Ryan, Anna Lee, Miranda, even Amber and all the other colorful characters, Moreville wouldn't even exist. So I'm grateful to them and for them. Some may eventually move away, but most will stay. And for those that move out, others will move in. Some will come from Mattel, others from Integrity. And they'll all live happily ever after...:-)

  1. Congrats on your new IT dolls. This is the Color Infusion line, and if I'm not mistaken, they have the much bigger feet. Some IT dolls, like my High Brow Adele, can fit some of the open toed Barbie shoes. A doll is only overpriced if no one buys it. I would say wait a while until the convention hoop la dies down. You may be able to get the dolls you want a little cheaper.

    1. Hi Vanessa!
Thanks. Yes, Darby is from the Color Infusion line. Cruz is Dynamite Girls. Not sure if that's Color Infusion as well. You're right about the convention hoopla. I'm in no hurry, so hopefully I'll be able to get the other two I want a little bit cheaper. :-)

  2. Hi Cindi, I too started collecting FR after years of Barbie. I appreciate the great variety of face scuplts and bodies, but they are just a "bit expensive".....but they mix nicely with Barbie. Now I'm curious about the Gloss convention dolls you set your eyes on!

    1. Hi Billa!
I started looking at the Fashion Royalty dolls because I got bored with the same o, same o Barbie face sculpt. I wanted different faces for different characters. And yes, they are a bit expensive! LOL I have my eye on Adaline King and maybe Ace McFly. Hopefully, they'll come down in price sometime in the future. :-)

    2. Hi Cindi, if you don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe, the "old" nu-face body fits more or less the mattel poseable body, open toe barbie shoes and silkstone barbie shoes. The new bodies unfortunately have huge feet and you can find some shoes at a reasonable prices from some chinese sellers on e-bay (for instance the Paul-Zangby ones fits fine). For the dresses Sergio gave you a good advice, there are many people who sell beautiful original dresses on etsy.
Adaline has a wonderful face sculpt, and Ace McFly is one of the handsomest guys around.
For the prices my advice is to be very patient and set your price, there's always somebody who drops prices when the first "selling binge" has passed.
      Kisses Billa

    3. Hi Billa,
Thanks so much for the great advice! Since I'm new to the Integrity dolls, I'm learning all I can and where I can get things for them for reasonable prices. I can sew and crochet, so I can make some clothes myself. I'll try to be patient and see if the prices drop after Christmas. LOL Thanks again for the info. :-)

  3. Hi Cindy. First of all, not all the IT dolls are Fashion Royalty, they have different labels with a variety of different collections and linesof dolls. Then, the retail price of an IT doll is no over priced, it's up to the people who resell them at the secondary market. For the clothes, you can find clothes for them at a good prices on etsy, frau e, clear lan and ebay. There is an ebay chinese shop who sells shoes that fit IT dolls, male and girl, for 3,99USD

    1. Hi Sergio!
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that about IT. I'll check out the other sites you recommended. I never thought of Etsy. :-)

  4. Did you buy any of the Star Dolls? Their shoes fit the Color Infusion feet pretty well. I like Dynamite Girl dolls by IT (actually Cruz is from the Dynamite Girls line). Their retail price is a bit more reasonable and they are not as tall and the Color Infusion or NuFace bodies. They can also wear Barbie shoes. Also, NuFace feet seem to be a bit smaller than the Color Infusion line. I am still learning, but I now have quite a few. I have bought some from dealers and some from the secondary market. There are a couple of really good stores for FR dolls like Minibarbie on eBay and Clear Lan direct that are more reasonably priced. Also, check out Miniwoo on eBay as well. Miniwoo also has some shoes that may fit the larger foot too.

    1. Hi Phyllis!
I do have Star Dolls. All have been re-bodied, but I may still have some of the shoes. I'll go look and see. Thanks for all the helpful info! As I told Billa earlier, since I'm so new to the Integrity things, any info I can get is helpful. I'll definitely check out the sellers you recommended on Ebay. Thanks again! :-)

  5. Congratulations on your new IT dolls. They are mostly gorgeous dolls. Pricey? Some are, yes, but if you ever wanted to re-sell, you would get what you paid back, if not more ;-)

Nice to see Cruz and Darby settling in Moreville, too.

    1. Hi D7ana!
I love these dolls! And yes, definitely pricey, but I was advised to be patient and wait. Prices will come down after the convention hoopla is over. Meantime, I'm going Christmas shopping. LOL I think Darby and Cruz will be very happy in Moreville. :-)

    1. Hi Georgia Girl!
Cruz is incredibly handsome! I have my eye on Ace McFly, but he'll have to wait until after Christmas. Adaline King will be moving into Moreville soon. The Moreville girls weren't happy to find out Cruz already had a lady friend! LOL :-)

  8. Hi Ro!
They really are a great looking couple much to the chagrin of some of the other ladies. LOL. Adaline King will be arriving next week. We'll see how the established girls react to her. :-)
