Ice, Ice Baby

After yesterday's rain/snow/ice/wintry mix, I couldn't resist taking pictures of the aftermath. We lost power sometime during the night, but thankfully it didn't last long. I felt sorry for the crews having to be out in the cold, yet grateful that they were out restoring power to all affected areas.

Ice on our big oak tree.

Front yard.

So much for the grass. LOL

This bush looks like it's made out of glass.

Another view.

Here's a closer view of the downed tree in the back yard.

Another view.

The ice was so heavy, one of the main branches split right off.

Of course, none of this even comes close to what people in the northern part of the US are dealing with. My thoughts and prayers are with them. D7ana and Ro, hope you guys stay safe and warm. :-)

  1. Hi Cindi, the pictures are beautiful, but such bad and cold weather must be very tough!

  2. Hi Billa!
Thank you! Winter weather does make for some nice photos, but it can be dangerous. Fortunately I lived in Colorado for over 13 years, so I can handle it. :-)

  3. The ice covered trees are beautiful, but yes, can be dangerous. The weight of the ice can cause a lot of damage to trees, rooftops, powerlines -- not fun! We are having a real cold snap here in Michigan with temps ranging from 20 above to 35 below zero! Brrr, I don't like going out in this cold!

    1. Hi Phyllis!
My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend. What we got here in northeast Georgia doesn't even come close to what cold you have. I always worry about the power going out because all we have is central electric heat. So far we've been lucky. Stay warm and safe. :-)

  4. Your pictures are nice. Thank goodness we didn't get any in the south side of Atlanta.

    1. Hi Georgia Girl!
You really were lucky. Fortunately the tree that fell here was in the back yard and nowhere near any power lines. It's still a big mess though. :-)

  5. I say winter scenes are always beautiful looking at them from the inside. LOL

    1. Hi Grandmommy!
Sometimes it is better to view winter scenes from the inside. On the day I took these pictures, it was 16 degrees out! Thank God that was above zero! LOL :-)
